The Wintersun Veteran Golfers Carnival is held annually at four different golf courses in and around Mackay over nine days, starting as always on the first Monday in August.

Story on the 2021 Wintersun Carnival
The 2021 Wintersun Veterans Golf Carnival has concluded with 148 veterans playing the final two days in Mackay.
The Carnival concluded with a presentation dinner at the Mackay Golf Club on the Tuesday evening with around 184 players and partners in attendance.
John Bowron from the Everglades Golf Club in Woy Woy, playing off a handicap of 4, won the prestigious 72 hole Gross Championship, comprising two rounds at Proserpine and 2 rounds at Mackay, with a score of 324 for the four rounds.
David Tarcy from the Town of 1770 Golf Club, playing off a handicap of 12, was the winner of the 72 hole Nett Event, with a score of 286.
Nola Cowie from the Hervey Bay Golf Club, playing off a handicap of 38, was the Ladies Overall 72 hole Champion with a score of 137 points.
In the Mackay 36 hole Championship Event, Ross Kynaston from Mackay, playing off a handicap of 5, was the 36 hole Gross Champion, with a score of 162.
John Bowron, from the Everglades Club, also playing off 5, was the runner-up with a score of 164.
Barry Sullivan from Mackay, playing off 19, won the 36 hole nett event with a score of 137 and Alan Dwyer, from Tallebudgera, playing off 22, was the runner-up, with a score of 140.
Nola Cowie from Hervey Bay scored the double by taking out the Mackay 36 hole Ladies Championship with a score of 82 points, 11 points clear of the next best score for the two rounds.
