A short message to advise that the dates and venues have been confirmed for 2024.

  • Bargara – Thursday 29 August, Friday 30th August
  • Bundaberg – Sunday 1st Sept, Monday 2nd Sept
  • Coral Cove – Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th Sept
  • Hervey Bay – Sunday 8th and Monday 9th Sept
  • Maryborough – Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th Sept

Official dinner will be held in Maryborough, Thursday 12th Sept.

We are hoping that Gin Gin Golf Club has an event prior to the carnival, hopefully on the 28th Aug and either Burrum or Isis Golf Clubs have an event on 6 or 7 Sept. These wont be part of the Spring Carnival, but as they are 9 hole courses in our district, that they may host an event for you to experience their courses.

After the feedback forms were returned, analyzed and discussed, we are trialing a couple of changes in 2024. Firstly, all grades will play stableford. This eliminates the confusion of whether to keep stroke or stableford scores for the cusp players. Secondly, even though the overall will still be 7 games from any course, overall players must play one round at each course to be eligible for overall prizes. Most did, so this shouldn’t be a big adjustment.

Thank you, and hope to see you in 2024.

Wendy Mathiesen, Convenor, 2024

Carnival Outline

The Carnival offers a total of ten rounds of golf over 16 days played on five Wide Bay courses in late August early September each year. All ten rounds are played as individual events. Players may enter in either the Carnival (seven rounds or more) or play a lesser number of rounds as a Non Carnival player.

The Carnival may only be entered by using the Spring Carnival Entry Form (see further down page).

Eligibility

To participate in the Carnival and to be eligible for Carnival prizes a player must complete a minimum of seven rounds of golf at five different courses and pay each round fee ($30) and the Carnival fee of $40.

Non Carnival Players

Alternatively players may nominate for individual events in which case they will pay only the round fee for that event and not the Carnival fee. They will not be eligible for Carnival prizes but will be eligible for prizes given by clubs for that day’s event. Players may enter individual events by using the Spring Carnival Entry Form.

Local Players

After the Carnival Closing Date participating clubs may fill any remaining vacancies in their fields with local players. Clubs will provide a separate Entry Form for these players.

The Maryborough Showgrounds have set up a section for campers for the Wide Bay Spring carnival. The showgrounds are on the northern side of Maryborough, about 5km from the Golf Club. Usually there is a 72 hour limit, but given that the carnival is over 10 days, they have graciously extended it.

Participants can refer to the website for information and bookings will open from 3rd July. The website is below:
